Anyone up for a game of hide and seek?

So much to catch up on!  After being IMPRISONED on my boat in the Gulf of Fonseca* tending to my very important security duties**, I was up for some liberty ashore.  I’m in this place called Costa Rica and it is like I’m in another world.  I was sick of my sister eating my food and taking up the best sleeping spots onboard, so I was looking for other friends to play with.

During my glorious morning walks, I tried to engage the iguanas in a game of hide and seek.  I was of course the permanent seeker as due to my size, it wouldn’t even be a fair game for me.  Off I went on the trail eagerly searching looking for anything that moved in the rocks and drainage holes.  But it turns out that all these guys wanna do is run away and hide before I even have a chance to seek.  I can’t even get close to them!  BOOO-RING.

Then I approached the howler monkeys to see if they were up for some fun.  They hollered at me and I waited patiently for them to come out to play.  Despite their taunting loud guttural noises, it turns out that like the iguanas, all they wanna do is hide, deep within the jungle.  At least show your faces in the spirit of the game!  Yet another snoozefest.

Then one afternoon I walked by a tree that seemed to come to life with what looked like little versions of my sister (the cat who shall not be named) – only there were TONS of them….and they were barking at me! (hissing actually).  I think they were inviting me to play with them! (probably not)  At least these guys came out where I could find them!  Now to get to them…hmmmmm…  It turns out I’m not a good climber, so perhaps these white-faced Capuchin monkeys will not be good playmates either for my hide and seek quest.

White faced Capuchin monkey comes out to investigate the large, leashed 4-legged creature walking by.

So, here I sit in beautiful Costa Rica desperately seeking playmates.  No worries though, I’m living la pura vida as they say down here and am enjoying stretching my legs a bit in my new digs.

*she did get to run on the beach, just not as much as we liked as we favor NOT swamping our dinghy in the surfline

**she slept through most pangas passing by and only barked when friends approached – thanks Quincy
